Cliff Park students take East Norfolk to an athletics high!
Posted: 6 Jul 2016
Eighteen students from Cliff Park Ormiston Academy represented East Norfolk at this year's Athletics championships, winning a host of gold and silver medals and taking East Norfolk to its highest ever Athletics positioning.
Up against some of the best athletes in Norfolk, Cliff Park students displayed brilliant performances with many winning gold including Michael Olaleye (Shot Putt), Sam Darby (Javelin), Henrique Gomes (200m), Will Simm (1500m) and Alfie Leonard (High Jump). In addition to the golds, nine other Cliff Park athletes finished with a silver or bronze in their respective events. East Norfolk finished in second place out of the eight partnerships, the highest it has ever finished in this competition.
Mr King, a teacher at Cliff Park, said: "To finish runners up to South Norfolk which has a larger pool of students is an incredible achievement and shows the depth of talent we have here in East Norfolk."
William Simm, Year 9 student at Cliff Park, said: "This is my third year racing and every time we have finished a position better. It's great to see more and more Cliff Park athletes with medals round their neck every year."
