CNS awarded Geography Quality Mark

City of Norwich School (CNS) has been awarded the Secondary Geography Quality Mark and are one of only 24 schools to receive the accolade this year.

Geography Quality Mark

The Secondary Geography Quality Mark (SGQM) is a prestigious award that recognises quality and progress in geography leadership, curriculum development and teaching and learning in schools.

All the awarded schools undergo a rigorous moderation process and the National Moderation Team were hugely impressed by how schools such as CNS are continuing to embrace new and innovative approaches to teaching geography.

The SGQM recognises student attainment, progress and achievement in geographical knowledge, understanding, values and skills and sets expectations about the quality of teaching in geography. It helps to raise the standard of geography in the awarded schools.

Tom Harris, Geography Teacher said:

"We are highly delighted to have been awarded the SGQM. It is the culmination of a lot of hard work within our department and recognition of the standards we all strive for on a daily basis!"

Jo Philpott, Headteacher at City of Norwich School, said:

"It is brilliant news that CNS has been awarded the Secondary Geography Quality Mark – reflective of the high-quality and innovative approaches to learning that we champion at the school. A huge thank you to brilliant team who have worked so hard to achieve this Award, it really is a testament to their passion and commitment."
