Generous project provides ‘much needed’ breakfast boost
Posted: 10 Jun 2016
During the busy exam period it is important that students at Ormiston Denes Academy remember the most important meal of the day ‘breakfast!’ Thanks to a kind donation from a new charity project, students at Denes taking exams and those not taking exams have been making the most of some tasty breakfast treats.
The initiative run by charity ‘His Church’ is called ‘Team Up To be Champions, School Breakfasts for Winners.’ It aims to improve educational attainment, attendance and social inclusion through the provision of healthy, good quality breakfast cereals to school breakfast clubs.
The academy was approached by the charity after they received a significant donation of Kellogg’s breakfast cereal last year for their daily breakfast club, which students attend free of charge. On that occasion they received 16 cases of cereal as part of the ‘Give a Child a Breakfast Campaign.’
This time round the academy acted as the host venue to distribute the latest donation to 10 primary schools across the area. Some of the schools that benefitted came just in time for exam season.
