Ms Lowry-Johnson, who took up the role of Principal following the Easter holiday, previously served as Associate Vice Principal at OCA and will be continuing the outstanding leadership of Tuesday Humby, who will remain at OCA serving as Executive Principal.

OCA joined Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) in 2014 and has since become one of the highest performing non-selective schools in the country and the fifth highest performing school in the North West.

An experienced Vice Principal, Jennifer has played a key role in driving OCA’s success to date, leading teaching and learning at the academy. She was an integral member of OCA’s senior leadership team, recently shortlisted for the Leadership Team of the Year award, at the prestigious Educate Awards 2017.

Before joining OCA, Jennifer worked at two other local schools, Wade Deacon High School and Fairfield High School, rising to the position of Head of Year and gaining wide-ranging experience. She then joined the Bankfield, in January 2014, shortly before the school joined OAT, becoming Ormiston Chadwick Academy, initially serving as subject leader for PE.

In March, the success of OCA, which is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, was recognised with a prestigious SSAT Educational Outcomes Award for the progress that students make during their time at the academy. This follows the academy’s excellent GCSE results last summer, which saw it ranked in the top 10% of schools nationally based on the Department for Education’s “Progress 8” measure, which measures progress made by each student during their time at the school from age 11 to GCSE, across eight subjects, including key academic subjects.

Former principal Tuesday Humby will now focus more of her time on her role as Regional Director North, for Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), supporting academies across the Trust’s Northern region, including Ormiston Chadwick Academy.

Tony O’Malley, Chair of Governors at Ormiston Chadwick, said:

"We are delighted that Jennifer Lowry-Johnson has been appointed as OCA’s new principal. We are confident that Jennifer is the right person for the role, having played a central role in driving OCA forward and setting the high standards that have made the academy such a success."

Jennifer Lowry-Johnson, newly appointed Principal of Ormiston Chadwick Academy, said:

"I feel deeply privileged to have the honour of being the new Principal at OCA. The academy is a truly special place and I look forward to working closely with staff, students, parents and the whole school community, to ensure that every one of our students leaves Chadwick equipped with the necessary skills, qualifications and mindset to take the next steps in leading a deeply rewarding life."

Tuesday Humby, Executive Principal of Ormiston Chadwick Academy and Regional Director North for OAT, commented:

"Jen is hardworking and extremely dedicated, with a wealth of experience behind her. As a member of the senior leadership team at Ormiston Chadwick for nearly four and half years, she has worked tirelessly to ensure that the academy provides students with the very best education and supports every student to achieve their full potential.

"This is a fantastic appointment for OCA and I look forward to continuing to work closely with Jen to take the academy to even greater heights."
