The Academy received an Educational Outcomes Award from the Schools, Students and Teachers Network (SSAT), in recognition of the hard work of both its students and teachers in achieving such strong progress.

Educational Outcomes Awards celebrate the work that schools and hard-working teachers do on a daily basis to ensure that students receive a rich, challenging education – something which Ormiston Rivers’ sponsor and OAT seeks to provide in all of its academies.

SSAT is an independent organisation providing support and training for schools on teaching, the curriculum and leadership development. Principal of Ormiston Rivers Academy, Joan Costello, accepted the award, which was presented by SSAT’s Chief Executive, Sue Williamson, at a celebration evening held in London on in May.

According to SSAT figures, the significant strides that the Academy has made in improving educational outcomes place it in the top 20% of schools nationally for progress – a fantastic achievement.

This progress was most clearly demonstrated last summer, when students achieved the Academy’s best ever GCSE results with 70% achieving five or more GCSEs at A*- C grades (including English and Maths), an improvement of 16% from 2015. This bucked the national trend in 2016, which saw a 2.2% fall in the A*-C pass rate in England.

Joan Costello, Principal of Ormiston Rivers Academy, said:

"We’re truly honoured to have received this award - it is testament to all of the hard work put in by both teachers and students. We work hard to equip our students with the ability to meet the demands of the 21st Century through a diverse curriculum, personalised to an individual student’s needs. We are looking forward to continuing to work closely with OAT to build on our achievements and strive to improve even further in coming years."

Chief Executive of SSAT, Sue Williamson, said:

"It’s my great pleasure to commend Ormiston Rivers Academy on their excellent 2016 performance, and to have the opportunity to highlight and share their great work at an SSAT Educational Outcomes celebration event. We know how hard teachers work to ensure the professionalism, commitment and hard work of the leaders, teachers and students at the Academy - a big thank you and well done to the pupils, staff and governors."

Ormiston Chadwick Academy continue to go from strength to strength and were also awarded the prestigious ‘Improving Educational Outcomes’ award from the Schools, Students and Teachers Network (SSAT), after achieving its best ever GCSE results in August of last year.

The academy celebrated 69% of its students achieving A*-C grades in English and maths, well above the national average. Last year’s GCSE results put Ormiston Chadwick Academy in the top 10% of non-selective schools nationally for attainment and progress, according to Educational Outcomes data analysis from SSAT.
