Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy achieve best ever GCSE results

Students and staff at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy (OSCA), Tividale, are celebrating after achieving the academy’s best ever GCSE results.

A record 55% of students achieved A*- C grades in English and Maths, and the academy enjoyed a huge increase in the number of students achieving the top A* and A grades with over 33% of all results one of these top grades.

The academy is delighted that so many of its students will be able to take up their chosen post 16 pathways and continue to flourish.

OSCA, which is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, has yet more to celebrate with the continuing trend of year on year improvement, moving them up performance tables.

There were some truly outstanding individual success stories this year, including:

  • Adam Foster who achieved 6 A*s and 3 As
  • Liam Ashcroft who gained 6 A*s, 1 A and 2 Bs
  • Joseph Boucher who achieved 5 A*s and 4 As
  • Sabah Akhtar who achieved 5 A*s, 3 As and 1 B

Students at OSCA accrued a brilliant 117 A*-A grades between them.
OSCA is also particularly proud of the phenomenal results of some of our overseas students who joined the academy over the last two years and for whom English is their second language. Some stand out achievements include:

  • Julia Kurzydym who achieved 4 A*s, 1 A and 5 Bs
  • Maria Viegas who achieved 2 A*s 5As and 4Bs
  • Victoria Olewale who achieved 2A*s, 2As and 1 B

Staff and Governors at the Academy prepared a full Olympics style medal ceremony as students arrived to collect their results, including a winner’s podium to celebrate the academy’s success in style.
