Across the vocational and A Level subjects, a brilliant two-thirds of entries (64%) were graded at the higher levels of A* to C, and almost every entry (98%) achieved a pass. And every single student who applied to university (61% of the Year 13 cohort) has achieved the grades they needed to officially secure their place. This is another excellent set of A Level results for the academy.

Over the last four years the academy’s sixth form, which is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, has seen continuing improvement. The average A level grade has now increased to C-, and the average Applied General grade has improved to a brilliant Distinction+. The average points score also leapt for both academic and vocational subjects.

The excellent work of the teaching team was complemented by the hard work of our students and support from parents and OAT.

Amongst the many achievements, some individual success stories from the day include:

  • Melissa Barrett achieved excellent results, with an A in Maths and a B in both Physics and Chemistry
  • Charlotte Lee also celebrated success, achieving an A in Psychology, a B in both Maths and Sociology and a C in combined English, securing a place at her Birmingham City University to study Speech and Language Therapy
  • Head girl, Laura Mitchell, is celebrating achieving a B in Sociology, and a C in both Geography and Combined English, securing her place to study Human Resources at Aston University
  • Head Boy, Matthew Little is celebrating securing an apprenticeship offer from Aston Martin

Stuart Turnbull, Principal at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy said:
