Ormiston Venture Academy’s record year for foodbank donations

Ormiston Venture Academy has raised a record number of donations for the Great Yarmouth Foodbank on Lowestoft Road and All Saints Church in Belton. Both food banks service the academy’s catchment area and every year the academy raises donations for them.

The event is organised by the Union of Venture Students (the representative body for students at Ormiston Venture Academy), who go out of their way every year to collect donations from students on the day when the academy hosts its Christmas Fair and Christmas dinner for students.

Students could wear a Christmas jumper for the day in exchange for a non-perishable food item, which would then be put towards the foodbank donation.

At the end of the week, the Union of Venture Students sorted the food into two equal amounts, packed it up into the academy minibus, and set off to deliver it to the two foodbanks.

Tyler Munro (Head Girl) and Cameron Hodds (Head Boy) said:

"We are so proud of how much all the staff and students at Ormiston Venture Academy have donated to the foodbanks this year and are really pleased we can support those in need, especially at this time of year."
