They will now join Ormiston SWB Academy (formerly South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy), which joined the Trust on 1 July 2017.

The academy will receive full support from OAT and access to its significant body of expertise. OAT has many years’ experience of successfully working in partnership with academies across the country.

Retaining its own unique identity, the academy will continue to build positive community links as well as work in collaboration with the wider OAT network.

North East Wolverhampton achieved the best-ever GCSE results in 2016, a 15% increase compared to the previous year. 68% of students applying to university gained a place, secured an apprenticeship or work-related course.

Nick Hudson, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Ormiston Academies Trust said: "We are delighted to be welcoming North East Wolverhampton Academy to our OAT family and look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundations at the academy. At OAT, we are committed to ensuring every student achieves their full potential, whatever their background, and we really look forward to supporting Ormiston NEW Academy going forward."

COWAT Chief Executive Bernard Dickenson said: "We have been proud to lead North East Wolverhampton Academy and are confident that OAT is a strong academy sponsor which can take the Ormiston NEW Academy to the next level."

Paul Farr, Principal of North East Wolverhampton Academy (now Ormiston NEW Academy) said: "Becoming Ormiston NEW Academy is a really exciting new era for all the students and staff at the academy. We will continue to be committed to ensuring our students receive high-quality education and boundless opportunities, a vision that the Trust similarly drives. We look forward to the great opportunities that joining OAT brings for staff and students.

“At this time, I would like to publicly thank COWAT and our current sponsors for their support since our academy opened."
