A National Leader in Education, Julie began her teaching career 26 years ago, starting out teaching history. She now has 17 years’ experience as a senior leader and has been the headteacher at two schools in the North of England, both of which she took to outstanding, one in 2007 and one in 2013. In addition Julie ran a Teaching School in Derbyshire and worked with the Local Authority at a strategic level to plan school improvement across the county, including supporting the recruitment of over 60 School Direct Trainees into the area each year. She worked as an Executive Head across a number of schools before joining Ormiston Academies Trust in 2015. Since joining the Trust Julie has been a key driver in developing the shared governance model and has written a number of papers about the advantages of shared governance for school improvement.
