Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) is one of the largest not-for-profit multi-academy trusts in England and we educate 29,000 pupils across six English regions, in 30 secondary schools, 7 primary schools and 1 all-through, special school. We are one of the longest established trusts and have been sponsoring academies since 2009. Our mission is to become the trust that makes the biggest difference, both inside and outside the classroom.

We place high value on staff development, both in teaching, support staff roles and leadership, and we are looking for a committed, talented individual to join our team as clerk to governors, working collaboratively with three local Ormiston high schools; Ormiston Denes Academy in Lowestoft, and Ormiston Venture Academy and Cliff Park Ormiston Academy, both in Great Yarmouth. This is an important, varied and interesting role helping our friendly and committed group of governors fulfil their responsibilities and support the development of each academy.

You will be joining well-resourced teams, at each academy full of excellent practitioners, keen to share best practice and continue moving forward. This ensures we are at the leading edge of the latest developments and are able to deliver the highest quality career professional development, and provide progression opportunities within the trust.

The role will involve advising, organising and clerking the three full governing body meetings and numerous subcommittee meetings of the academy governors, some of which take place on the same day.

You will also clerk other occasional meetings relating to permanent exclusions and staffing matters. You will have support and advice from the chair of governors and the principal at each academy as well as other local support in undertaking the role.

  • Has first-rate communication and exceptional IT skills.
  • Is highly organised and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Has proof reading skills and an eye for detail.
  • Has excellent minute taking skills.
  • Has a sense of humour and cheerful disposition, which are essential.
