An exciting opportunity has come up for a new Regional Director to join the team of existing Regional Directors’ (RDs) working in our School Improvement Team (SI). In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • improving the performance and standards of education within a region.
  • the line management of academy principals, in a region, providing support, challenge and guidance as appropriate
  • ensuring that the academies receive high quality school improvement services through the OAT school improvement teams
  • championing and promoting the OAT ethos and purpose

In addition to this regional role, all of our RDs have a national responsibility. Present national responsibilities include Teaching and Learning, the Curriculum and Continuous Professional Development. The national responsibility for this role will be dependent on who the successful candidate is, and will be discussed during the recruitment process. Regional responsibilities will be agreed with the successful applicant

The successful applicant will have had headship, Ofsted or HMI experience working with challenging schools, coupled with evidence of improving standards. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic individual who is credible with both primary and secondary colleagues, and who wants to make a real impact on improving outcomes for children and young people.

Our OAT Head Office is in Birmingham and as such the successful candidate will be expected to visit Head Office 2/3 times a month, spending the rest of the time in the region working with our academies.
