This is a fantastic time to join the Academy. This role is a growth role based on our rising pupil numbers and dedication to Design Technology.

For September 2019, the Academy has been awarded a substantial grant of over £100,000 which we are able to dedicate to STEM delivery across the Year 7 and 8 curriculum, partnering Design Technology with CECAMMs, the Island’s multimillion pound Centre of Excellence for Composites, Advanced Manufacturing and Marine. This will see our Year 7 and 8 students embarking on a dynamic and exciting Design Technology offer which will blend theory in the classroom with practical learning linked to the maritime industry and will culminate in the students designing and building a boat.

This year we celebrated our strongest ever results, now well above the national average, with 50% Grade 5+ in English and Maths.

The role offers an exciting opportunity and challenge for a high calibre, versatile and enthusiastic Design and Technology teacher to join a strong and successful faculty. Applications from both experienced and newly qualified teachers would be warmly welcomed.

NQTs can join us for three weeks’ paid induction in July and summer holiday pay. Teachers at early career stages may also be able to benefit from reduced rent in our Cowes house. Relocation and recruitment possibilities can also be discussed at interview for the right candidate.

We are able to offer an excellent package of support and benefits for the right candidates:
• a talented and experienced team
• students who are a pleasure to teach.
• a strong culture of professional development in this aspiring Teaching School.
• superb, state-of-the-art facilities.
• an Ofsted ‘Good’ school with high standards and high expectations.
• collaborative opportunities from Ormiston Academies Trust.

Applicants must have the ability to offer two out of four of the KS4 specialisms; Design Technology, Health and Social Care, Food and Child Development.

The successful candidate will have qualified teacher status (QTS or equivalent) and appropriate and relevant qualifications in relation to the post, please see the teacher job description and person specification for more detail.
