Tenbury High Ormiston Academy receives glowing Ofsted report

Tenbury High Ormiston Academy has received a glowing Ofsted report – with inspectors judging it to be good in all areas.

The Ofsted report confirms the success of what inspectors said were “impressive and significant” changes that the school has made over the last year.

Following an inspection which took place on the 8 and 9 May, inspectors recognised the ambition that the academy and its leaders have for pupils to achieve their very best in all areas of school life.

Amongst the many areas praised in the Ofsted report, inspectors noted:

  • The Principal, leadership team, Trust and governors have created a well-run school which pupils want to attend.
  • The academy is an “inclusive school at the heart of its community”, with relationships between staff and pupils being warm, and pupils treating each other well and aiming high.
  • Behaviour is calm and pleasant, and pupils are focused, interested and engaged in their work.
  • The curriculum is well designed to ensure all pupils study a broad range of subjects, and teachers have good subject knowledge, providing swift and effective support to help build pupils’ confidence with learning.
  • The academy’s career offer was praised as a particular strength, with pupils well informed about their next steps.
  • Staff receive good quality professional development from the school and the Trust, which they appreciate.
  • In addition to the Trust, governors and trustees have supported and challenged the school effectively during a period of “rapid improvement” and are dedicated to continuing to do so.
  • Students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) receive a carefully tailored range of interventions which help them to perform and engage well.

With a commitment to delivering the very best education to students, the academy’s leaders have also set out plans to further improve its provision in areas raised. This includes refining the curriculum further to support enhanced learning; reviewing its analysis of student attendance to ensure all pupils are in school and learning well; and by expanding the cultural development opportunities offered to ensure all pupils can access new experiences which will broaden horizons.

We are thrilled to have received such a positive Ofsted report, rating the academy good in all areas.
