Students and staff at Ormiston SWB Academy are celebrating today as sixth form students receive their A-level and post-16 results. Students at the school have achieved results that recognise their progress, perseverance and dedication over the past two years.
The students’ successes have enabled many to secure places at their chosen universities, on competitive apprenticeships, in further training and into employment, as they prepare to take the next steps in their education and careers.
Among the achievements being celebrated across the school, some standout successes include:
- Kat who achieved an A* in biology and an A in chemistry and mathematics. She has secured a place at the University of Manchester to study medical biochemistry.
- Teigan who secured a triple Distinction in health and social care. She has secured a place at the University of Wolverhampton to study children’s nursing.
- Katie who received a double Distinction in health and social care and a B in sociology. She has secured a place at the University of Wolverhampton to study sociology and criminology.
- Wiktoria who achieved an A in geography, a B in psychology and a C in biology. She will study marine biology at the University of Liverpool.
- Jayden who secured an A in PRE and sociology, and a B in business. He has secured a place at the University of West London to study aviation management and commercial pilot licence.
Students also performed particularly strongly across a number of subjects. In A Level geography, 63% of students secured an A, with every student receiving a B or above. A Level philosophy, religion and ethics also delivered excellent results, with 67% of students gaining an A and the cohort recording an overall average of a B. Biology saw strong individual performances, including an A and with 60% of students securing A*-B grades and 80% receiving A*-C grades. Vocational subjects also performed strongly, with both applied science and triple health and social care recording an average grade of Distinction across their respective cohorts.
