Ormiston Endeavour Academy, part of Ormiston Academies Trust, has begun work on a major new teaching block that will create modern learning spaces for up to 300 students.
Construction work commenced on the 8 September, with the project expected to be completed in summer 2027.
The project will deliver a purpose-built, two-storey teaching block providing space for up to 300 students and a range of modern facilities designed to support teaching, learning and collaboration for years to come.
The new building will include eleven classrooms, two ICT suites, a library and learning resource centre, group teaching spaces, a dining hall, and dedicated staff facilities. Designed with accessibility and inclusivity at its heart, the development will feature lift access and accessible facilities throughout.
The project is being delivered by Barnes Construction, which has already established its site compound and begun preparatory works, including the removal of the existing MUGA court and groundwork preparations for the new building foundations.
The development is expected to bring benefits beyond the school gates. Throughout the construction programme, the project team will work closely with students and staff to provide educational opportunities including careers events, site visits, assemblies and work experience placements.
Apprenticeships, trainee placements and T-Level opportunities will also be created, helping to develop future careers within the construction industry.
The contractor has also committed to using local labour and supply chain partners wherever possible, ensuring the investment delivers wider benefits across the Suffolk community.
Over the coming months, residents will begin to see the new facility take shape, with foundation works progressing this autumn followed by the installation of the building’s structural steel frame.
