Ormiston Rivers Academy students are celebrating their hard work after receiving their post-16 results today.
Students at the sixth form have shown great determination in preparing for their exams which has been reflected in their success.
The students are looking forward to the exciting next steps in their journeys, whether they’ll be going on to study at their chosen universities, embarking on apprenticeships, or moving into highly skilled employment.
The academy has seen an overall improvement on last year’s results. While all students have done well, there have been some impressive individual performances. These include:
- Aidan White, who has achieved A* in mathematics and three As in further mathematics, chemistry and physics. He will be going on to the University of Warwick to study mathematics.
- Amelia Hague, who has achieved A* in maths and three As in further mathematics, chemistry and physics. She will be going on to study maths at the University of Exeter.
- Milly Gilmour, who has achieved two A*s in history and the EPQ and two As in English literature and sociology. She will be going on to the University of Sheffield to study politics and philosophy.
- Ross Foster, who has achieved three As in mathematics, further mathematics and chemistry and a B in physics. He will be going on to the University of Nottingham to study maths.
- Siobhan McQuillan, who has achieved A*s in English literature and history and an A in sociology. She will be going on to the University of Exeter to study law.
- Amelia Barness, who has achieved two As in English literature and drama and two Bs in sociology and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). She will be going on to the University of Greenwich to study drama with international studies.
- Ellen Moore, who has achieved an A in biology and three Bs in chemistry, physics and mathematics. She will be going on to Warwick University to study bioscience. In particular, Ellen is highly active in the local community, sharing her passion for environmental issues, including giving talks on the environment and what it means for young people today. She is also a budding guitarist, having previously performed at the annual OAT Awards Ceremony.
- Jake McCarthy, who has achieved Distinction* in sport, Distinction in business studies and an A in finance. He will be going on to a telecommunications apprenticeship at Immervox.
Many subjects saw students performing strongly, including history, sport, finance and media studies.
