Brownhills Ormiston Academy welcomes new Principal

Brownhills Ormiston Academy is set to welcome Ross Doodson as its new Principal this September.

Ross currently serves as the school’s vice principal, where he plays a central role in maintaining a high standard of learning and creating important opportunities for students to thrive.

Ross has extensive experience working in schools, starting his career as a music teacher in Shropshire before joining Brownhills eighteen years ago. Since then, Ross has dedicated almost two decades of service to the school, holding several leadership roles including Head of Music, Director of Performing Arts, and Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for personal development and enrichment.

Over the past few years, Ross has been working closely with the school’s current principal Ann Lloyd and other members of the senior leadership team to ensure every child and young person receives the highest quality of education.

With the support of the dedicated staff and the wider Trust team, Ross is looking forward to building on the school’s vision of ensuring every student is equipped with the skills, attributes and academic qualifications to achieve whatever they put their minds to.

Ross will be taking over from the current Principal, Ann Lloyd, whose dedication and expertise have put the school in a fantastic position to move forward with pace and purpose.

Ross Doodson, Vice Principal of Brownhills Ormiston Academy, said: “I am honoured to be taking over the role of principal at Brownhills Ormiston Academy and very much look forward to building on its strong foundations. My priority is to provide an ambitious environment where students receive an exceptional education.

“I have seen first-hand the dedication of our staff, whose passion for student success is at the heart of our school. With high expectations for all, we will strive for excellence in teaching and learning every day.

“Together, we will work hard, celebrate success, and ensure every student is equipped to thrive.”

Rod Hughes, Education Director at Ormiston Academies Trust, said: “We are delighted to have appointed Ross as the new Principal of Brownhills. He stood out as an exceptional candidate, bringing great enthusiasm for supporting our students. His passion for making a real difference in the lives of young people is clear, and we are confident he will continue to foster a caring and ambitious environment where every student can thrive.

“We also want to thank Ann for all she has done for the school and wish her the very best for the future.”
