Exceptional A-level results for City of Norwich School students

Hard work pays off for students at City of Norwich School who collected their post-16 results today.

The sixth form students at the academy have achieved some exceptional results following a year of determination and commitment in preparing for their exams.

The students’ successes have enabled many of them to secure places at prestigious universities, on esteemed apprenticeships and in highly skilled employment.

While all students have done well, there have been some impressive individual performances. These include:

  • Our head students, Malini, Danicke and Lucy, who have made such a difference across the school by leading the national award-winning school magazine, projects on mental health and diversity, and who have achieved superb grades between them. All three students have been accepted for their first-choice universities at University of East Anglia, University of Sheffield and Queen Mary University of London.
  • Many students achieved all A*/A grades and have been accepted on exciting courses at the top universities, including several students who will be going to Oxford University and Cambridge University, to study a range of courses.
  • Individual stories of excellent achievement include those overcoming adversity. Two students from Ukraine are going to the University of Manchester and University of Sheffield to study engineering and architecture.

City of Norwich is committed to empowering students to achieve the highest standards in everything that they do, supporting students to attain academically and socially for the lives and careers ahead of them. By being part of Ormiston, the academy is committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background, by providing the best learning environments both inside and outside the classroom.

Jo Philpott, Headteacher at City of Norwich School, said: “Today has been such a special day, full of joy, for our students and their families receiving their A-level results. The class of 2024 conducted themselves superbly through their CNS Sixth Form journey and have achieved the excellence they deserve. We are thrilled by their achievements which have enabled 88% of students to progress to their chosen university courses including several Oxbridge places, with other students moving on to exciting apprenticeships and employment opportunities.

“I am very proud of our students and their contribution to the wider school and local community and wish them every success in their chosen pathways. My thanks to our brilliant staff who have taught and guided our students through their sixth form journey and our parents/carers for their support.”
