Mayor of Wolverhampton celebrates student talent at Ormiston NEW Academy

Ormiston NEW Academy welcomed Craig Collingswood, Mayor of Wolverhampton to a special event celebrating exceptional student artwork.

The exhibition showcased four striking pieces created by talented Year 9 student Barnett, inspired by the academy’s house system of Pride, Endeavour, Together and Excellence. The artworks have been enlarged and will take pride of place in the reception area as a lasting reflection of the school’s values.

Parents, students and members of the local community joined the Mayor for the reveal, transforming the evening into a celebration of creativity and community spirit while highlighting the remarkable talent emerging from the academy.

Guests were also welcomed by a performance from the academy choir, who delivered a powerful rendition of Take That’s “Rule the World” ahead of the highly anticipated unveiling.

The event marked a proud moment for the school, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing creativity and providing opportunities for students to showcase their achievements beyond the classroom.

Craig Cooling, Principal of Ormiston NEW Academy, said: “Barnett’s artwork beautifully reflects the values that define our academy, and we are incredible proud to showcase these pieces at the heart of our school.

“It was an honour to welcome the Mayor, alongside our families and community, to celebrate this special occasion. Events like this demonstrate the confidence, creativity and ambition of our students.”
