Across the Trust, pupils and staff have come together this week to mark Remembrance Day – honouring the courage, service and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve our country.
From heartfelt poetry readings and moments of silence, to moving musical performances and local parades, academies across the Trust paid tribute with dignity and respect. Including:
Ormiston Bushfield Academy, whose pupils dressed proudly in uniform as the school community paused for a solemn moment of reflection. A live bugle performance of The Last Post marked a powerful silence, allowing all to contemplate the meaning of peace, service, and gratitude.
Grimsby, Ormiston Maritime Academy’s CCF Cadets took part in the annual Remembrance Parade, representing their school and community with great pride and poise. Their involvement was a poignant reminder of the values of respect and remembrance that run through the OAT community.
The courtyard of Ormiston Six Villages Academy became a place of unity and reflection as pupils and staff gathered for a whole-academy Service of Remembrance. Moving poetry readings, a two-minute silence, and the sound of The Last Post created a deeply meaningful moment for all who attended.
Pupils and staff at Packmoor Ormiston Academy joined members of the local community for a Remembrance Service at Millennium Green. Together, they paid tribute to those who gave their lives in service to others, demonstrating respect, unity, and reflection as they stood side by side with the wider community to remember.
This is just a small handful of examples that our 44 academies have been doing to recognise Remembrance Day. Across all these commemorations, pupils demonstrated empathy, respect and understanding,
The dedication and thoughtfulness across our schools, have ensured that the act of remembrance remains a meaningful and unifying experience across our Trust, inspiring reflection and gratitude in us all.
