Packmoor Ormiston Academy in Stoke-on-Trent has been praised by Ofsted for “broad education” which helps children “achieve high standards” in their learning.
The primary academy was commended for its “warm and caring” relationships which help “children develop independence successfully” and “join the school successfully and settle quickly.”
Inspectors highlighted the academy’s “high expectations for what pupils can achieve”, supported by “highly skilled staff” and an “ambitious” curriculum in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Key highlights from the report include:
- “The environment is both welcoming and full of exciting learning opportunities.”
- “Pupils get along well and care for each other. They behave well in lessons and playtimes.”
- “The curriculum has been carefully considered” and “staff are knowledgeable.”
- “The school does much to encourage pupils to read for enjoyment.” “Pupils read with confidence and fluency.”
- Pupils receive a “broad education”, visiting Manchester airport, local farms, and outdoor learning residential trips.
- “Pupils regularly attend inclusive extracurricular clubs such as football, dance, choir and chess.”
- “Pupils value leadership roles” and “are proud to have a positive impact on school life.”
- “The school’s provision for pupils’ broader development is strong. Pupils learn about how to be responsible citizens.”
- “Governors and trustees place an emphasis on the achievement of groups such as disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND. They are ambitious for all pupils.”
