Ormiston Chadwick Academy students secure top prize in regional STEM competition

Ormiston Chadwick Academy are celebrating an outstanding achievement after securing the prestigious Mond Trophy at a regional science and maths competition.

Hosted at Cronton Sixth Form College, the highly anticipated event brought together forty teams from twenty schools, challenging some of the region’s brightest young minds. Students demonstrated exceptional expertise across physics, biochemistry, engineering and maths, tackling complex problems with creativity and precision.

Ormiston Chadwick entered two teams into the competition, both of whom delivered remarkable performances. The girls’ team rose above the competition to claim first place overall, proudly taking home the coveted Mond Trophy. Meanwhile, the boys’ team impressed judges with their enthusiasm, resilience and collaborative spirit throughout the event.

Designed to inspire the next generation of innovators, the competition encourages students to pursue STEM subjects while sharpening critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork skills. This success highlights not only the students’ talent and dedication but also the academy’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
