Celebrations are taking place this morning at Ormiston Denes Academy as students pick up their hard-earned GCSE results.
The academy is pleased to confirm a strong set of GCSE results this year, as its students now prepare to embark on their next stages of their lives.
The overwhelming majority of subjects saw improvements in results, with the academy scoring particularly well in subjects including religious education (RE) where 31% of students achieved a grade 7 or higher and art and design in which 88% students achieved at least a grade 4.
The whole school community is now celebrating the results, recognising the students’ two years of hard work in preparing and studying.
Alongside the academy’s success, highlights from this year’s cohort include:
- Erin gained three grade 8s including English language, history and RE and four 7s including in English literature, maths, science and Spanish.
- Ollie Cleall who achieved grade 9s in English literature and history, 8s in English language and geography and 7s in RE and science.
- Gracie-Kae Lovell, who, despite being affected by life-changing injuries following an incident which meant she missed most of Year 10, overcame adversity to achieve an excellent six grade 4s and higher in subjects including in English and mathematics.
- Halleluyah Anthony-Bawa and Viola Bobadilla who both achieved eight grade 4s and higher in subjects including English and mathematics, despite less than a year in the English education system, reflecting their determination to succeed.
This set of results follows a successful year for the academy, which was recently rated good by Ofsted in every category for the first time in four inspections. In its report, published in April this year, Ofsted praised the academy for being “highly ambitious for every student to succeed academically and develop personally”, whilst praising its “revised curriculum and training for staff,” which ensures that “students reach their full potential.” As part of Ormiston, the academy is dedicated to providing the highest quality education and ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, gains the skills and opportunities they need to thrive.
Kate Williams, Principal at Ormiston Denes Academy, said: “This group of year 11s is so special and it has been a privilege to see them grow and learn as young individuals. We are so proud to see them achieve such excellent results, which are testament to their exceptional attitudes and dedication.
“We know they have very bright futures ahead of them. Congratulations from all of us at Ormiston Denes Academy!”
