Ormiston Venture Academy celebrates student sporting success at annual awards

Ormiston Venture Academy recently celebrated student sporting achievement at its annual Venture Elite Sports Awards held at Wild Duck Holiday Park.

The special event brought together more than 110 students, who arrived dressed in their finest formal attire to celebrate their achievements across a range of sports. Martins and Emilia were recognised with the best dressed award as students gathered with staff to make a year of dedication, teamwork and success in sport.

During the evening, 26 awards were presented to recognise students’ commitment, talent, and dedication across a wide range of sports. The highest honour, Outstanding Commitment to Sport, went to Brooke for her passion and consistent effort. Other major awards included Future Olympian, the Venture Spirit award, and Leader of the Year, highlighting the many ways students contribute to the sporting life of the academy.

Guests also enjoyed a delicious buffet courtesy of Papa John’s, and thanks to the partnership with the venue, Wild Duck Holiday Park generously provided the event space free of charge.

Mrs Willis, Head of PE at Ormiston Venture Academy, said: “Sport plays a huge role in the culture of our academy, and it was fantastic to celebrate the commitment, determination and talent shown by our students this year. We are incredibly proud of all the award winners, and special congratulations to Brooke, who has consistently demonstrated the Venture virtues throughout her five years in PE.”

Simon Gilbert-Barnham, Principal at Ormiston Venture Academy, said: “The Venture Elite Sports Awards are always a highlight of the year. It was wonderful to see so many students come together to celebrate their achievements and the positive role sport plays in building confidence, resilience and teamwork.”
