Ormiston Venture students shine in a production of SIX

Ormiston Venture Academy wowed audiences with a spectacular production of the musical SIX: Teen Edition, performed by pupils from Years 8 to 11.

After months of dedication, including twice-weekly rehearsals, additional practice sessions and two intensive weekend run-throughs, pupils brought the bold musical to life in front of captivated audiences.

Reimagining the six wives of Henry VIII as a fierce modern girl group, the high-energy production featured powerful vocals, catchy songs and dynamic choreography. Each wife took centre stage to tell her story, competing to claim the crown in a celebration of confidence, individuality and sisterhood.

Production Directors at Ormiston Venture Academy, said: “Working on Six with this cast has been an absolute joy. These students have shown extraordinary dedication and enthusiasm throughout the rehearsal process. They stayed late after school, gave up weekends, and brought lots of energy to every rehearsal, always pushing themselves to grow as performers and as a team. Their hard work, resilience, and passion for this show is evident throughout the performance, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they have accomplished together. We would also like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped along the way.”

The production showcased exceptional talent across the academy. The six leading queens, performed by outstanding Year 10 and 11 students, commanded the stage with confidence and charisma, while a vibrant chorus and dance ensemble made up of pupils from Years 8 to 11 delivered energy and precision in every scene.

Beyond the glitter and glamour, the performance reflected student’s exceptional teamwork and resilience as they supported each other both on and off stage. Staff also praised the cast and crew for their commitment, describing the show as a shining example of collaboration, creativity and confidence in action.
