National Director of AP and Special
Wasim oversees the Trust’s alternative provision (AP) and special schools’ portfolio and leads the strategy for inclusion, working with academies to strengthen culture, practice and outcomes for vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils.
Wasim is an experienced educator whose career spans mainstream, special education and alternative provision. Before joining OAT in 2021, he served as a Headteacher and Executive Headteacher of AP academies in inner-city London, with a strong track record of designing and embedding high-impact approaches to attendance, behaviour and inclusion.
He also contributes to national thinking on inclusive education, participating in policy discussions with the Department for Education and serving as a member of the IPPR Inclusion Taskforce. His work is driven by a commitment to ensuring every pupil can access a high-quality, inclusive education.
