Ormiston Venture Academy is thrilled to announce the exceptional achievements of their Year 11 students, who have demonstrated incredible resilience and determination to achieve impressive GCSE results.
Students throughout the year have demonstrated the character that is reflected in their achievements. Not only have they focused on their academic achievements, but they have also had a wider impact during their time at the academy, leading on fundraising, peer mentoring, the student union and much more. Every step of the way they have been leaders and role models within the academy, and beyond in the wider community.
The academy is incredibly proud of the result of all students and some standout successes among them include:
- Anneka Allen, who has received nine grades at 7 or above, including a 9 in history and science. Despite significant personal challenges, Anneka has continued to showcase incredible resilience and determination, receiving the 2024 Inspirational Learner Award at the Ormiston Academies Trust Annual Award ceremony Anneka is going on to study at Norwich School on a 100% bursary she has secured.
- Louis Borrett, Head Boy and Vice Chair of Ormiston Academies Trust’s regional student voice organisation, has achieved all of his grades at 7 or above, including six grade 9s. Louis will be going on to study at East Norfolk Sixth Form.
- Head Girl, Emiliya Mitreva, has secured the Ormiston Academies Trust scholarship to Oundle School after a rigorous and competitive application process that will see her study politics, history, mathematics and economics & government on a fully funded boarding scholarship in September. Emiliya has always shown an inspirational work ethic having achieved eight grade 9s or equivalent and a grade 8.
- Alfie McCarthy is a young man who should be incredibly proud of himself and the progress he has made in his time at Venture. From a tough starting point in Year 7, Alfie has worked tirelessly to improve his grades and to get himself into a position to sit the higher tier papers in science and mathematics which he successfully did, achieving a grade 7/6 in combined science and grade 5 in mathematics, alongside a brilliant set of other results in English, history, geography and computer science.
Principal Simon Gilbert-Barnham expressed his pride and admiration for the students, stating: “I could not be prouder, looking back at the determination and effort our students have put into their time at Venture. They have all succeeded in so many ways. From these fantastic results to the amazing young people, they have grown into. Well done to all and a thank you to our staff, parents, and community in working together for such incredible outcomes.”
