Ormiston South Parade Academy has been commended by Ofsted for its “warm, caring atmosphere” which ensures pupils “feel safe, valued, and confident”.
The primary school has been praised by the report which finds pupils “enjoy coming to this inclusive school” and “are proud ambassadors.” While the inspection is ungraded, Ofsted confirmed the school “has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection” – where it was judged to be good.
The inspectors also highlighted how the school’s “interesting and well-resourced curriculum” means “pupils demonstrate positive attitudes to their learning” and “are well prepared for secondary school.”
Key highlights from the report include:
- “The school has high ambitions for pupils’ academic achievement, particularly in English and mathematics.”
- “The school places a high priority on pupils becoming fluent and confident readers… Pupils read often and develop a love of reading and books.”
- “Teachers ensure that pupils have opportunities to revisit important knowledge regularly.”
- “Pupils’ personal development runs through all aspects of school life.”
- “Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) learn the full curriculum alongside their peers. Those who may need additional support are identified promptly.”
- “Pupils feel confident in talking to any member of staff [and] know they will be listened to and helped.”
- “The school provides a thoughtful programme of wider opportunities… that support pupils to become confident and resilient.”
- “Staff link trips to the taught curriculum to bring learning to life. Pupils enjoy these and talk appreciatively of what they have gained from them.”
- “Parents who shared their views during the inspection were overwhelmingly positive about the school.”
- “There is a strong team spirit amongst staff. They are positive about working at the school.”
